 Board of Education

The Board of Education leads in "Expecting the Exceptional" and in providing policies and resources that help students achieve.

The Board of Education is committed to providing varied educational experiences which will prepare students to be contributing members of society.

The Board has final control over local school matters within the framework established by the State Legislature, the State Board of Education, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and court decisions.

The Board is responsible for:
  • exercising educational leadership and drafting policies for the operation of the school district.
  • setting goals appropriate for each student's education.
  • employing a superintendent of schools to provide professional leadership to implement its policies and to be responsible for day-to-day operation of the schools.
  • securing money for operational needs and being responsible for allocation of funds.
  • expressing and representing the views of the community in matters affecting education.
