Recently, Raytown High School theatre students earned first place in the One Act competition at the MSHSAA District Speech and Debate Tournament and qualified for the state competition in April. Students performed the show, Aftershock by Joe Calarco.
Raytown High School students competed against five other schools to earn the title of district champion. The top two teams from each district advance to the state competition. In 2015, Raytown High School competed in the state competition after earning second in the district competition.
Katie Kolster, Director of the Raytown High School Theatre Department said, “I am really proud of how hard these students worked to make our show a success. We are thrilled to be returning to the State tournament this year and are hoping to do well.”
This is the first time Raytown High School has earned first place in the One Act district competition.
