Raytown South High School’s South Side Slam team earned fifth place and Raytown High School’s Poetry Slam team earned sixth place in the final round of the Louder Than a Bomb (LTAB) Spoken Word Poetry Festival competition.

The competition featured more than 25 teams from across the metro and over the last few weeks, students have been competing around the city. In order to prepare for competition, each team had to work together to write a series of poems to perform against students from other schools.

This is the fourth year Raytown High School’s Poetry Slam team has participated in the LTAB competition and the second time the team has made it to the finals. Team members include Earl Bradshaw, Keira Burton, Ashley Dedrickson, Miranda Erickson, Becca Hall, Miyah Spencer, Brittney Stanley, Alisha Straws, and Amya Mitchell-Woods. The team is coached by John Garofalo and Barbara Perry.
