Come visit Tulsa, once dubbed “America’s most beautiful city.” On the way to Tulsa, we will stop in Claremore, OK and tour the popular Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Then we’ll drive into Tulsa on the famous Route 66, the “mother of all highways.” Once there, we will drive by the Golden Driller, the fourth tallest free-standing statue in the world. After checking in our motel and doing dinner, we will drive by some famous Tulsa landmarks including the Philbrook Museum, the former mansion of oilman Waite Phillips, with its 72 rooms and beautifully landscaped gardens, then a drive-through the Oral Roberts University campus to see the Praying Hands and the 200’ Prayer Tower and finally the home of Roy Clark, former co-host of TV’s Hee Haw.

On day two, after a continental breakfast, we will visit some of the new “hot spots” in Tulsa. We’ll start by going underground and walking through an unusual art deco tunnel below some of the downtown streets. Next, we’ll step into “The Center of the Universe,” a unique, one-of-a-kind experience that will mystify you. A highlight will be to tour the new Woody Guthrie Center which preserves his legacy and tells the life story of this native Oklahoman. Then it’s on to tour Philbrook Downtown with its collections of modern and native American art. Next, we’ll drive through an area once known as Black Wall Street, scene of the infamous 1921 race riot. Our last stop will be to tour the Tulsa Air and Space Museum where you can see some rare and historic aircrafts and some hands-on displays; you can also go through your own countdown and “launch” of a mock-up of a space shuttle. On our return trip home, we’ll stop at a Golden Coral in Joplin for dinner.
