Shana Bobbitt, Counselor A-Go

Shana Bobbitt is an Illinois native who moved to the Kansas City area after accepting a position at Raytown High School. Attracted to the diversity that Raytown offered, RHS was her first and last interview after she completed a Masters in Counseling. She notes, "This school immediately felt like home!" Ms. Bobbitt is entering her 7th academic year at RHS and considers it an honor to work with the students and families of the Raytown community.

Prior to becoming a school counselor, she worked in Child Welfare, Financial Aid, and College Access. Ms. Bobbitt's education, work experiences and training helps her to partner with students as they begin their journeys towards young adulthood and post-secondary planning. 

"I always say, 'Every grade level prior to high school is preparing you for high school. High school helps prepare you for life!' With that in mind, I encourage students to dream about what their lives after high school might look like and take proactive steps towards developing a plan to achieve those goals!"

Jennifer Northcutt, Counselor Gr-O

Jennifer Northcutt is thrilled to be joining the counseling team at RHS! Ms. Northcutt has 15 total years of experience in education, most at the secondary level, and loves working with young adults as they embark on exciting new adventures. Ms. Northcutt brings five years of counseling experience to Raytown High School, including two years at the elementary school level and one year at Raytown South! Prior to counseling, she was in the classroom as an English teacher and Special Education teacher.

"Maya Angelou reminds us that 'people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.' I hope my students always remember feeling safe, accepted, understood, and heard when they are with me!"

Ms. Northcutt is passionate about working with students on all issues, but especially loves helping students solve problems of all sizes using cognitive behavioral interventions. She lives in Lee’s Summit with her husband, two young children, and dog Cassius.

Nancy Young, Counselor P-Z

Nancy Young is a proud Raytown High School alumna. As a student at RHS, she particpiated in Yearbook, Student Council, KeyClub, served as a Peer Helper, and was a member of the swim team. Ms. Young began teaching in Raytown School District at Raytown South High School in 1990. After furthering her education, she returned to the district as a School Counselor at Raytown South Middle School where she remained for seven years. Ms Young then transitioned to her beloved Raytown High School, where she coached swimming for 15 years in addition to high school counseling. Ms. Young is now entering her 19th academic year at RHS.

"As a graduate of Raytown High School, I hold dear the traditions of our school and connections to the community. My approach to counseling is to connect to every student, meet their needs, and provide a safe place in which they can thrive."  

Ms. Young is an animal lover and shares her home with three dogs (Ramsey, Juniper, and Harley) and two cats (Gracie and Lena).

LaKeysha Fontenot, Social Worker

Lakeysha Fontenot is the Social Worker at Raytown High School.  She earned a BSW from Avila University (2003), a MSW from UMKC (2010) and became a Licensed Master Social Worker in 2016.  Ms. Fontenot's social work background consists predominantly of child welfare, which she practiced for over 17 years.  She also has experience in behavioral and mental health in emergency room and inpatient settings.

"I am here to help students, parents, families and faculty inside and outside of the school environment.  My goal is to connect you with services, resources and information to enhance your physical, emotional and mental well-being."

Amy Barrett, Registrar

Mrs. Barrett says, "Raytown is my home. It always has been!"

The daughter of two former Raytown School District teachers, Mrs. Barrett attended and graduated from Raytown Schools. Her own two daughters, Madison and Hannah, are also products of Raytown Quality.

Mrs. Barrett has over 13 years of experience as a School Registrar with extensive knowledge of transcripts, grades, enrollments, withdrawals and everything in between.  She also oversees the RHS clothing and food pantries which provide weekend food bags to students in need.

"It sounds cliché to say 'I love my job', but it’s true. I love my job, the students, staff and families at Raytown High School!"

Stacy Cowan, Counseling Secretary

This is Stacy Cowan's 2nd year as Counseling Secretary for the Raytown High School Counseling Center, but she has served in the district for a total of four years. Prior to coming to RHS, Mrs. Cowan worked as a Probation and Parole Officer for 11 years. She enjoys crafting, spending time with husband, son and dog- Diesel.
