Originally opened as Raytown Alternative School, the school was housed in the former Raytown Junior High, now Raytown Central Middle School site. Raytown Success Academy provides an opportunity for success for students who have not previously found success in a conventional classroom.

As part of the district's efforts to be more environmentally friendly, embrace innovative technology and maintain fiscal responsibility, the district has transitioned from paper to electronic flier (eflier delivery). The Herndon Career Center (HCC) Culinary team recently earned first place out of 18 teams and HCC Culinary Management team placed first out of 7 at the ProStart Culinary Missouri State Competition held in Springfield, Missouri. Both teams will now compete in the National ProStart Invitational in Washington D.C., May 6-8, 2022.
