New Substitutes

How To Become a Substitute:

To become a substitute, you will need to complete the online application. Certified substitutes are for substitute teaching and classified substitutes would be for all other substitute positions. Please click here and type "substitute" in the search bar to view all substitute openings and to begin the application process.

The Raytown Quality School District for 2022-2023 is offering to cover the cost of your background checks. Once you apply, you will be invited to come into our office to meet with Millie Purtle, HR Coordinator for substitutes.  At this meeting you will pre-register online for fingerprinting through the State Highway Patrol's Missouri Automated Criminal History Site (MACHS). And you will register online through the Department of Health & Senior Services(DHSS).

What Are The Requirements To Be A Substitute Teacher:  You must have either a current Missouri teaching certificate, OR  have a current substitute certificate, or complete DESE's 20 hour substitute teacher training. Please click here to apply for your substitute certificate. Please provide a copy of your certificate to the Human Resources Department.

All communication will be via email. If you do not have an email that you check daily, please call 816.268.7002 for alternative forms of communication.

What is a Long-Term Substitute:

A substitute teacher is considered a long-term substitute after working 10 consecutive days for the same assignment. Starting with the eleventh (11) day, substitute pay is retroactive to the first day at the long-term sub rate. (NOTE: Classified substitutes do not receive a long-term rate of pay. They are paid based on step one of the current position in the current salary schedule).
