Frequently Asked Questions
- What Generative AI is my child exposed to at school?
- Raytown High School and Raytown South High School students will have an opportunity to use SchoolAI for certain projects and assignments in class.
- How is Gen AI used in RQS Classrooms?
- Teachers will set up "spaces" or specialized chat bots in SchoolAI. Teachers will provide very specific instructions and documents for the "spaces" to reference. They are designed to assist students with specific tasks and assignments without doing the work for them.
- Is using Gen AI considered cheating?
- In many instances, yes it will be considered cheating. Your student's teacher will provide specific instructions and when the use of Gen AI is approved. Students are encouraged to ask their teacher if they are ever not sure.
- What security measures have been implemented regarding Gen AI?
- SchoolAI employs a "Walled Off Garden" for the Raytown School District. Basically, the "spaces" that students are using can research items outside of the district, but their information remains secured, meaning they are not providing student information to large language models.
- Can my child access the school's Gen AI tool at home to do their homework?
- Yes. If their teacher has created spaces for their class, they can access the site from home.
- What do I do if I don't want my child to access this information?
- Start by contacting your building's administration. They can work with you to determine the best way to move forward.
