Inaugural Sparkle Empowerment Conference

Raytown Quality Schools girls from across the district sparkled, joining us in the inaugural Sparkle Empowerment Conference!

The conference, led by Superintendent Dr. Penelope Martin-Knox at the RSECC building, was the first of its kind to the district. It brought together girls in grades 4 - 12 to hear from and learn from leaders in the Kansas City area and leave with life lessons.

The conference was created to empower students with knowledge on a variety of topics including resume writing, interview skills, etiquette, internet safety, college preparedness, mental health, dressing for success, learning about various career opportunities such as construction and architecture, and so much more.

Following the conference, a few of the participants were asked "what does it mean for you to sparkle?" Students responded they feel empowered, knowing there is a large network and group of young girls and women who are a support system and resource, and the feeling of excitement for their future.

Thank you to our partners for supporting this event through donations, presentations, and participants of the conference.
