Raytown High School's first graduating class was the class of 1907, composed of 12 graduates who had come from many rural school districts which had consolidated to become the Raytown C-2 School district in 1903. The school has expanded and been remodeled several times throughout the years. During the 1954-1955 school year, the school was so crowded that classes were held under the stadium, at the nearby bus barn, and in the cafeteria. Today, Raytown High School is known for outstanding academics and extracurricular programs.
To prepare for the return of secondary students who are enrolled in in-person learning, Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26 will be asynchronous virtual learning days for students in grades 6-12. Please note: Students who have been attending Herndon Career Center will continue with their normal schedule for the remainder of the week.
Students from Raytown South High School and Raytown High School earned top honors in the annual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) District virtual competition and have qualified for the state competition.
Students in the vocal music programs at Raytown High School and Raytown South High School were selected for the Kansas City Metro All-District choirs.
The Raytown School District is recognized as one of the Healthiest Employers in Kansas City by the Kansas City Business Journal. For the fourth year in a row, the District was selected as one of five honorees in the 500-1499 employee category.
