Freshman Academy

Freshman Academy creates a space just for 9th graders to grow academically, build confidence, explore their interests, and get ready for what comes next. Students receive extra support as they make the transition to high school. It's also a chance for them to explore different courses and career pathways that will be offered through the Academies of Raytown.

Career Pathways
Students in grades 10-12 will select a "home" academy and pathway aligned to their interests and goals. There are two academies with four pathways each.

Health and Human Services:

  • Healthcare
  • Human Services
  • First Responders
  • Environmental Science

Business, Innovation and Industry:

  • Business & Marketing
  • Arts, Entertainment, & Design
  • Manufacturing & Industrial Trades
  • Information Technology
     

 

 

Reveal Day
During the winter of their first year of high school, Freshman Academy students at Raytown High School and Raytown South High School find out which academy pathway they will be participating in during a Reveal Day event. This marks the the first of many steps along their pathway as they work to become college and career ready during the remainder of their high school experience.

 

 


Career Fair & Guest Speakers
All freshmen take part in a Career Expo Fair - an exciting hands-on and real world learning exploration. Students connect with local businesses and organizations to discover career paths across Raytown's two Freshman Academies: Health & Human Services and Business, Innovation & Industry. Through interactive exhibits, they learn how classroom lessons connect to future goals and gain a glimpse into life beyond high school.

Freshman Academy students at Raytown High and Raytown South take a big step toward success - committing to excellence and to crossing the graduation stage with their diploma in hand. Their journey to their future starts with a commitment to graduate ceremony.
