Empowering Students to Succeed
Ray of Hope Online Academy is a MOCAP program RQS initiative that targets re-engagement efforts designed to support students who have been dropped from high school rosters. Since its launch in September 2025, Ray of HOPE Online Academy, powered by Graduation Alliance has been making incredible strides in advancing student lives. Designed to support students who previously attended Raytown or those who live anywhere in Missouri, this initiative provides a highly flexible and heavily supported pathway to high school graduation.
A 360° Support System
A major cornerstone of Ray of HOPE is its wraparound support. To ensure technology is never a barrier, students are supplied with a Google Chromebook and a Wi-Fi hotspot for the duration of the program.
The academic framework includes:
● State-Certified Teachers: Dedicated educators help students master course concepts and
offer weekly study sessions for one-on-one help.
● 24/7 Virtual Tutors: Students can access virtual tutors at any time of the day or night to get
help with their homework.
● Academic Coaches: Coaches build educational plans, schedule courses, and monitor
progress to keep students on track.
● Dedicated IT Support: Full IT support is available on weekdays to assist with any computer
or student portal questions.
● School Counselor: School counselors support students with steps after Graduation
Breaking Down Real-World Barriers
Ray of HOPE recognizes that our students are often navigating significant life challenges outside of the classroom. Recent surveys show that participating students face major hurdles, such as 29% needing to provide sibling care, 25% being pregnant or parenting, and 24% lacking reliable transportation. Because students can access and complete their instructional activities at anytime of the day, including weekends, they are empowered to balance their education with their complex personal lives.
Student Spotlights
We are incredibly proud of the resilience our students show every day. Here are just two inspiring stories from our program:
● Alayjiah G. — Alayjiah is a remarkable student who embodies perseverance and dedication. Despite balancing work responsibilities and health challenges, she consistently attends every meetup—often staying late to ensure her assignments are done. She excels in her classes and shows outstanding attention to detail.
● Kaetlyn C. — Kaetlyn has faced several life obstacles but remains incredibly determined. She is working full-time while also providing full-time care for her grandmother, who has cancer. Additionally, she has recently taken on a new role as a mother. Despite these heavy responsibilities, she continues to make the effort to complete her schooling and has recently made significant academic progress.
By the Numbers
As of the latest program update, the results of this initiative speak volumes:
● There are currently 34 active students enrolled who previously attended Raytown and 167
total active students.
● We are thrilled to celebrate three upcoming graduates from Raytown and seven upcoming
graduates from outside of the district!
● A total of 17 students from Raytown successfully earned credit in the month of March.
● Altogether, students have earned a total of 249 credits through the program.
Student feedback regarding the enrollment process and staff support has been overwhelmingly positive, with students noting that the staff is super helpful and positive and awesome from start to finish.
The Ray of HOPE Online Academy continues to live up to its name, providing a vital lifeline for our students' educational journeys.
