Raytown High School Theatre Students Receive Blue Star nominations

Students in the Raytown High School Theatre Department received Starlight Theatre Blue Star Award nominations for their performances and theatre expertise throughout the 2020-2021 school year. 

Raytown High School student Aiden Harkins, was nominated for the ‘Leading Actor in a Musical’ award for his performance in Pippin as the title role. Harkins submitted a video audition package along with his theatre resume. He will perform at the Blue Star Awards ceremony in May. If Harkins is selected as the winner in the ‘Leading Actor in a Musical’ category, he will participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards this summer.

Raytown High School student, Cheyli Ferbet, was selected as a finalist for the Rising Star Scholarship. The $2500 scholarship is awarded to two Kansas City metro high school seniors choosing to pursue theatre as their major in college. Ferbet submitted a theatre resume, essay, recommendation letter and transcript.

Starlight Theatre’s annual Blue Star Awards recognize achievement and excellence in musical theatre among Kansas City area high school students.

The Annual Blue Star Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 20, 2021. Tickets are free and can be reserved online at kcstarlight.com. Parking is $5. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on the Blue Star Awards Facebook page.
