Raytown South High School Student-Athletes Receive Post-Season Honors for Spring Sports

Several varsity student-athletes from Raytown South High School earned postseason honors in the sports of baseball, golf, soccer, and track and field.

Raytown South High School baseball players who earned who earned All-District honors included Hunter Burford and Jackson Rouse.

All-Conference honors included Hunter Burford who earned first team honors, Matt Summer who earned second team honors, and Nick Logeman who earned honorable mention honors.  

The head coach of the Raytown South High School Baseball team is Dave Patterson.  

Raytown South High School boys golf team members Andrew Porter and Kobe Shahib earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.

The head coach of the Raytown South High School boys golf program is Nick Adkins.

Raytown South High School girls soccer team member Jasmine Alcantera earned first team All-District honors. Raytown South High School girls soccer team members Carrington Crain-Freeman and Kim Munoz earned second team All-District honors.

The head coach of the Raytown South High School girls soccer program is Nick Chavez.

Student-athletes from Raytown South High School represented the District at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Track and Field meet in Jefferson City on May 28.

Zaya Akins earned three state championship titles including the 100m Dash, 200m Dash and 400m Dash. Throughout the course of the season, Akins set new school records in the 100m Dash, 200m Dash and 400m Dash. Additionally, her times of 11.56 in the 100m Dash, 23.95 in the 200m Dash, and 54.29 400m Dash were the best in Missouri in all classes of competition. Zaya's 400m Dash is ranked #20 in the nation out of all high school athletes and #1 nationally out of the 2023 graduating class. Quinton Rowell earned sixth place in the 400m Dash. Ja’Nyiah Davis earned fifth place in the high jump.

The 4x100m relay team of Nia Shields, Markayla Lottie, Tachelle Thomas, Zaya Akins also qualified for the state meet. 

Zaya Akins, Ja'Nyiah Davis, and Quinton Rowell also earned All-State honors. 

Raytown South High School track and field student-athletes who earned First Team All-Conference honors included Zaya Akins, Markayla Lottie, Nia Shields, Tachelle Thomas, and Quinton Rowell. Raytown South High School track and field student-athletes who earned Second Team All-Conference honors included Marcus Foster, Jiyani Thompson, and Ja'Nyiah Davis. Raytown South High School track and field student-athletes who earned All-Conference Honorable Mention included Najee Simpson, Chris Lemons, Gionne Booker, and Jaylin Harris.
