Raytown School District Announces the Hiring of Dr. Andrea Mixon as Assistant Superintendent

The Raytown School District is pleased to announce the hiring of current Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Andrea Mixon as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.

Dr. Mixon has been an educator for more than 28 years, the last 24 of those years with the Raytown School District. Dr. Mixon served as a middle school teacher in the Raymore-Peculiar School District before coming to the Raytown School District in 1996. In the Raytown School District, Dr. Mixon has served as a middle school gifted teacher, middle school English teacher, as well as a yearbook sponsor and track and volleyball coach. In 2003, Dr. Mixon was named the Raytown Middle School Teacher of the Year. Dr. Mixon has also served as the Raytown Middle School Assistant Principal, and Raytown Central Middle School Principal and as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction since 2012.

Dr. Mixon received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City; a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Missouri; Educational Specialist in Secondary Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City; and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University.

Dr. Mixon will follow Ms. Kim Bielawski who will retire after 30 years in education, 19 of those years with the Raytown School District.  Dr. Mixon will assume duties as Assistant Superintendent on July 1, 2020.
