Raytown High School Choir Director Earns State Award

Raytown High School Choir Director Alex Kolster received the Prelude Award from the Missouri Choral Directors Association (MCDA). Prelude Award recipients must be in their third, fourth, or fifth year of teaching and demonstrate success in the teaching and performance of choral music in Missouri. Kolster accepted the award at the annual MCDA Conference, held in Jefferson City, Missouri from July 18-21.

Several Raytown High School students performed at the MCDA conference. Raytown High School student Micah Cotton performed with the Kansas City Boys Choir under the direction of Ah’Lee Robinson.  Students Kayla Kittrell and Courtney Reeves performed in the Missouri 9th-10th Grade Honor under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Redding. Kittrell and Reeves auditioned to be part of the choir this past spring.
