Raytown School District announces Support Staff Employee of the Year

The Raytown School District is pleased to announce Amy Barrett as the Support Staff Employee of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. Barrett is a Raytown South High graduate and serves as the registrar at Raytown High School.

Barrett was selected from 21 candidates who completed a nomination packet and then had the opportunity to interview with judges. The judges described Barrett as loving, positive, and generous. “She seemed to speak to them from the heart, and has a true love for the Raytown School District and the community,” Judges said.

In addition to her role as registrar Barrett also operates the school’s clothing closet, packs food for students to take home on the weekends, and helps students with other essential needs to ensure their success in school.

Co-workers describe Barrett as the glue that bonds all the offices together and as someone who thrives off relationships and makes those around them feel loved and valued.

In a letter of support, Principal Dr. Chad Bruton said that Barrett’s impact reaches far beyond her job duties. “Amy Barrett goes above and beyond with her ability to quietly build relationships with some of Raytown High’s most vulnerable kids.”
