Westridge Elementary was opened in September of 1961. New housing demands in the southwestern part of the district created the need for a new elementary school. The Eagle's first principal was Karl Nuhn, who had also opened Blue Ridge.

We recognize that creating a safe learning environment is a critical part of helping each child achieve academic success. As part of the district's efforts to be more environmentally friendly, embrace innovative technology and maintain fiscal responsibility, the district has transitioned from paper to electronic flier (eflier delivery). To publicize content that supports the basic educational mission of the district and/or benefits the population of the district in a positive manner, the Raytown C-2 School District uses Peachjar, a free online service for schools, to post approved efliers so that they are accessible to parents, staff and students as wanted/needed. Raytown South High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students earned third place out of 20 teams in the Money Smart Kansas City (MSKC) Shark Tank 2019 Youth Contest sponsored by Central Bank of KC and administered by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Office of Financial Literacy.
The Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA) selected Raytown High School Registrar Amy Barrett as the Counselor Advocate of the Year.
